GENESIS DANCE COMPANY, L.L.C.
Uplifting the human spirit and inspiring others is at the heart of Genesis Dance Company. Led by the desire to uplift and inspire, Genesis Dance Company was created in September 2001 by Karen L. Arceneaux. Under Arceneaux’s direction, this contemporary dance company performs original works intended to feed the soul, and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit. The company is comprised of 15 outrageously talented dancers each with his or her own diverse background, which is confirmation of how we can all, with our differences, come together through dance to work toward a common goal. The company’s goal is to restore hope through the beautiful art form of dance.

Arceneaux’s movement is purely organic, innovative, sinuous, exciting, and athletic that demands agility, balance, strength, and the successful union of emotion and technique. The result is a mesmerizing, electrifying body of work that leaves audiences captivated! Since 2002, the company has taken audiences on a journey with each performance with a history that includes two successful seasons in Detroit, Michigan and over 30 performances in 15 different venues in the New York and Connecticut areas.

We must dance from a true place. Then, and only then, can we take the audience on a journey with us. My dancers know that they must give of themselves emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally. Anything less than 100% is unacceptable. The result is truly beautiful!”

                                                         -Karen L. Arceneaux, Founder/Artistic Director January 2003
